Carole Gajdosik
Carole is the Owner/Director of the Sunshine School. Before purchasing the school in 1999, she had been with the Sunshine School since 1979; first as a classroom teacher and then as a Head Teacher. She can be found most frequently in the dramatic play room, participating in a block building activity, joining a tea party, or helping children dress up as doctors, princesses, or cowpeople. The dramatic play room is one where a child's imagination can flourish. There are opportunities to become various characters or to create many different kinds of play situations. It is also a terrific place to learn the give and take of group play and to develop social skills.Another area that Carole enjoys is that of literature and language arts. She has several favorite stories and creates opportunities for children to participate in many story activities. Carole presents stories in a fashion designed to instill a love of books in young children, giving them the foundation necessary to learn to become good readers as they move on in their academic careers.
In addition to the story activities and literature the children enjoy at school, the Sunshine School also has a lending library, run by the four year olds. There are currently over 700 books available for the children to borrow and read at home. The children create a personalized book bag in the art room for carrying their book to and from school and also learn the responsibility of caring for the book and returning it in a timely fashion. Language arts and literature are important aspects of everyday life at the Sunshine School.
