Bonnie Reed
Bonnie Reed is the art room teacher at Sunshine School. Not limited to the paint brush, the children in the art room have been seen painting, printing and creating with sponges, beauty puffs, back massage rollers, marbles, golf balls, dog toys, string, bubble wrap, plastic placemats and shelf liners, spools, cookie cutters, salt, shaving cream, and anything else Bonnie can find to apply paint, print textures, mix colors and be creative.
The art room is a place where the students can express themselves, using “artistic license” creating artwork in their own way as an artist. The children are also introduced and exposed to various artists' works and methods used in creating their masterpieces. Through both visual and tactile methods, Sunshine School students discover “What happens when you mix two ‘primary colors’? You make a third, a ‘secondary color’!”
Art is not only a creative outlet that provides fun and exploration, in pre-school education, in the future it can be gratifying as a life-long hobby or a profession!
